Google has launched an updated version of its Maps app for Android phones.
The upgrade now lets users search Google Maps via voice commands, with the app currently recognising English in American, Australian and British accents.
Business listings have also been enhanced to include opening hours, prices, reviews and ratings, while transit and walking directions have additionally been added to the app.
Furthermore, the changes include a number of improvements to tracking service Latitude, including a fix for a problem that resulted in disruption to background location updates for some users.
"You may also notice a new experimental feature called Updates that lets you communicate with friends and post messages," said Google software engineers Ole CaveLie and Chandan Pitta on the Google Mobile blog.
Google chief executive Eric Schmidt revealed last month that Android users download an average of 40 apps each at present.
About 4,900 apps are currently available via Android Market.
