Google has announced an improved version of its customisable iGoogle portal for Android and iPhone users.
The beta release of the product is faster than its predecessor and supports tabs and more gadgets, including third-party ones.
Users can also read article summaries in feed-based gadgets without leaving the page, re-order gadgets and keep gadgets open for the next session.
The new version of iGoogle is currently available to users in 38 languages, the search engine said on the Google Mobile blog.
Commenting on the usefulness of iGoogle to web users, software engineers Dan Zivkovic and Zhen Wang said: "It doesn't require a big commitment of time and energy - it's simply there for us whenever we need it.
"This kind of availability is even more important on a phone."
A redesigned version of iGoogle went live in the US last October that included full canvas views for a number of gadgets and an improved navigation system.
