Web marketers need to plan ahead and take care when choosing keywords as part of a search engine optimisation (SEO) campaign, the author of What Success Takes has stressed.
Garret Pierson, writing for Search Engine Journal said web marketers face a number of challenges when selecting key words and phrases to optimise a site.
He explained it is important to avoid keywords "that not a single soul searches", as well as those that are too broad or generic.
Instead, Mr Pierson advised web marketers to use an online keyword tool like Google's to determine which phrases will work best. He added that long-tail keywords are among the best options to consider, as they are often more relevant to searchers, less competitive and could potentially generate "great traffic" in a shorter period of time.
Keyword density is also an important thing to consider when optimizing a site for SEO, according to a dating and relationship blogger.
Writing for Examiner.com, Kristin Marquet asserted that online tools can be helpful in determining the density of keywords on a website.
