A public beta version of the forthcoming Opera 10 web browser has been launched.
The browser is available for the Windows, Mac and Linux platforms and includes Opera Turbo compression technology to help speed up the delivery of website content and a new interface designed by Jon Hicks.
Opera's tabbed browsing feature has also been updated to show users thumbnails of each open tab, while the Speed Dial offering - which provides quick access to favourite sites - has been amended to give users more customisation options.
In-browser support for email clients, newsfeeds and BitTorrent is included in the new browser, which is available for free from the Opera website.
Jon von Tetzchner, chief executive of Opera Software, said that there are more "surprises" in the offing for users of the browser.
"When you try the features, enjoy the accelerated performance and get a glimpse at our shiny new wrapping, I think Opera 10 beta will excite both long-time users and those new to Opera," he added.
Last week, Opera announced that had joined the Khronos Group in support of the development of open standards for 3D graphics, games and media.
