Amazon UK has topped the IMRG/Hitwise Hot Shops List as the best-performing website for this month, it has emerged.
This means that Amazon's UK arm has now been rated as the top e-commerce website in every quarter since the list was initially launched in May 2006.
Argos, Play.com, Amazon.com and Tesco were among the other online retailers to make it into IMRG and Hitwise's list.
The top ten currently includes six of the brands that made the cut three years ago, it was noted.
"There will always be space for innovative online-only players such as Amazon, Play.com, Expedia and ASOS," commented Robin Goad of Hitwise, adding: "Online remains the most exciting channel for retailers both old and new."
IMRG estimates that UK consumers have spent £200 billion on online purchases since 2000.
The most recent IMRG Capgemini e-Retail Sales Index showed that UK e-commerce sales registered an increase of 14 per cent in April 2009 compared with 12 months previously.
