Mobile phone giant Nokia has announced the opening of its new mobile application store.
The new Ovi Store is now available to Nokia mobile users - some 50 million worldwide - who will be able to download a variety of applications for their mobile phones.
Nokia states that the offerings available, including applications, podcasts, games, videos and web location-based services, will make devices "smarter and more fun".
In addition, the store will be available in five different languages and supports operator billing in many locations.
AT&T is one of the organisations planning on making the Ovi Store available to its clientele.
David Christopher, chief marketing officer at AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets, commented: "AT&T has a reputation for providing the most customer choice of content and applications, and offering Ovi Store is in line with that strategy."
Mobile applications are predicted to generate revenue of over $25 billion (£15.6 billion) by 2014, according to a Juniper Research report published recently.
