Britain's Got Talent finalist Susan Boyle should offer tactical inspiration to mobile marketers.
According to Bena Roberts of GoMo News, the Scottish singer's rise to worldwide acclaim and popularity demonstrates the need for good, simple content that can be freely shared.
Ms Roberts urged marketers to think beyond banner, SMS and paid advertising when it comes to mobile and offer users good content as advertising in itself.
"Wouldn't great content that has the viral effect bring in more traffic to your site and brand than the cost of a mobile advertising campaign?" she asked.
Mobile marketers could also look to "app-vertising", when brands integrate their advertising with mobile phone applications.
According to Advertising Age's Garrick Schmitt, several brands are exploiting the boom in mobile phone applications to promote themselves.
Chanel is one example, having a branded application that includes a store finder and video footage.
Other firms place adverts within applications, such as Burger King.
