The fashion e-commerce sector is likely to continue to grow, it has been suggested.
According to Cosmopolitan fashion director Shelly Vella, consumers are increasingly turning to the web for clothing and footwear as online shopping can be easily fitted into a busy lifestyle.
She also highlighted the fact that shoppers do not need to go through the "heinous experience" of trying clothes on in the shop itself as they can do so in their own homes and return items if needed.
However, Ms Vella stressed that successful e-commerce sites are those that provide the best service and product range, noting that Asos, for example, has managed to see significant returns from its website by offering a wide range of sizes and sound delivery and returns policies.
"I think [with] a lot of the high street stores their biggest shops are their online sites I know that is a sure thing for [companies] like Dorothy Perkins and Warehouse," she added.
Asos recently announced that its sales for 2008 rose by 90 per cent to £81 million last year.
