The recent decline in the pound's value spells good news for e-commerce retailers that deliver internationally, it has been suggested.
According to the Times, both small e-commerce specialists - such as those trading on eBay - and larger outfits like Asos and Amazon have seen international transactions soar as international consumers look to capitalise on cheaper goods from UK web sites.
Speaking to the newspaper, IMRG chief executive James Roper said the collapse of sterling "is a golden opportunity for British retailers".
Asos chief executive Nick Robertson - whose company recently reported a 173 per cent surge in non-UK sales in the last month - added that the "bonus" of the web is the fact that companies can reach many consumers without opening physical stores.
Recent statistics from the IMRG Capgemini e-Retail Sales Index showed that UK e-commerce sales rose by 19 per cent in the 12 months to March 2009.
