Furniture retailer DFS has managed to hold on to the top spot in this month's e-commerce website rankings as compiled by Sitemorse for the Retail Bulletin.
Sitemorse's analysis looks at criteria such as function, accessibility and quality of code in the first 125 pages of each site to determine the best UK retail websites each month.
DFS saw its score rise to 9.54 for April's study, while Adams jumped 29 places into second with 9.04 and new entrant The Book Depository came third at 8.32.
Commenting on The Book Depository's success, Lawrence Shaw of Sitemorse said that it is notable the site placed higher than more well-known e-commerce sites.
"It's another example of a retailer that is reaping the benefits of a well-performing website, which is helping drive sales," he remarked.
Mr Shaw added that the recession means no retailer can afford to run a poor website any more.
The most recent IMRG Capgemini e-Retail Sales Index figures showed that UK e-commerce sales rose by 19 per cent in March compared with the same month last year.
