A new study has rated Yahoo! as offering the best mobile search experience out of all of the major search engines.
Conducted by Gomez and dotMobi, the research placed Yahoo! in the top spot after examining each mobile search engine based on five main criteria - readiness, discoverability, speed, success and consistency.
Amazon, Ask and Google tied for second place, while AOL, Craigslist and eBay followed behind.
Greg Sterling of Search Engine Land pointed out that it is unlikely the results apply to the newly launched Yahoo! Mobile portal as opposed to the older Yahoo! oneSearch service for mobile users.
"My sense is that it's the old oneSearch because this study was a few months in the making," he commented.
Gomez and dotMobi also looked at the mobile websites of the largest airlines in the US, rating AirTran, Continental and Southwest as having the best mobile homepages in the industry.
