A new server-accelerated browser for mobile devices and smartphones is set to be announced by Opera at the CTIA Wireless Show in the US next week.
The new Opera Mobile 9.7 - which features compression technology in the form of Opera Turbo - will offer users a better web browsing experience, according to the firm, as well as working to help carriers cut down on network congestion.
"Today, carriers and mobile device manufacturers alike are looking for solutions that take advantage of existing technologies and investments while trying to maintain a high level of service for their customers," said Rod Hamlin, senior vice-president for the Americas for Opera Software.
He added that the new offering will particularly benefit business customers, who can use Opera 9.7 to improve user experience without the need for additional development costs or the allocation of new resources.
The CTIA Wireless Show is set to take place from April 1st to 3rd at the Las Vegas Convention Centre in Nevada.
Actor and comedian Billy Crystal will headline the CTIA Wireless Gala event, which will be held on April 2nd.
