None of the UK's main high street banks feature in a list of the top ten finance websites for performance and accessibility, it has been revealed.
Research carried out by Sitemorse and Alterian reveals that the best finance website for performance, accessibility and compliance was Intelligent Finance in the first quarter of this year.
The top five high street banks failed to make the top ten at all. Lawrence Shaw, chief executive of Sitemorse, said it was surprising how wide the range of scores for function and compliance was.
"With the financial services industry under the spotlight, any business that can deliver accurate, reliable services through the web will retain consumer confidence and can hopefully translate that to the rest of its business operations," he added.
The websites in the study were assessed against criteria such as first page, metadata and download times, as well as server response times and errors per page.
Aviva was named the best FTSE 100 corporate website in terms of overall performance and user experience by the Investis Quarterly index earlier this year.
