The managing director of Mail Online has called the company's latest web development "an obvious extension of our brand".
Commenting on the announcement that the newspaper website has launched a new dating service, MailDating.co.uk, James Bromley said the matchmaking tool is located on a secure internet platform.
Image-based technology has been utilised to help readers find people who live in their area and have similar interests.
The web design allows users to find other people on the service by categorising results by personality type, for example.
"We have a large audience across our titles, many of whom want to search for like-minded partners in a safe and trusted online environment," Mr Bromley explained.
Earlier this month, BingoOnTheBox.com revealed that two of its players fell in love after talking to each other in the site's chatrooms.
Rachel Brooks from Holsworthy, north Devon, first met Weston-super-Mare's Steven Reeves when playing against him at the portal's online bingo games.
