The Guardian is to relaunch its mobile website, it has been announced.
According to the newspaper, the site at m.guardian.co.uk will be redeveloped to work across all of the main mobile web browsers, including those on the iPhone and the Blackberry.
Traffic to the Guardian's mobile site has increased significantly in the last few months, said Guardian News & Media commercial director Adam Freeman.
Emily Bell, GNM's director of digital content, added that it would be "perverse" for the company to not make its news content more accessible for mobile users in light of the growth of the smartphone market.
"It has been our strategy for a long time to put Guardian journalism in front of as many people as possible on as many platforms as possible," she remarked.
A review of mobile newspaper sites undertaken by Graham Charlton of Econsultancy last year concluded that while the Guardian's mobile website does well at offering easy access to top headlines, it has a limited content range and an overly basic look and feel.
