Retailers look to boost websites with blogs and Web 2.0

17th February 2009

Global retailers are planning to invest more in social networking and rich media technologies for their websites over the next year.

This is according to new research from Adobe Scene7, which revealed that a third of online retailers intend to spend more on blogs for their websites by the end of 2009.

An additional 31 per cent said the same for user ratings, rankings and comments, while 29 per cent opted for 360-degree image spinning, 28 per cent for podcasts or live video feeds and 27 per cent each for product comparisons and videos.

"Web marketing continues to be an area of investment and innovation because in challenging economic times it can deliver high-impact marketing programs that can be easily and immediately measured," explained Adobe vice-president of consumer and hosted solutions Doug Mack.

Adobe added video streaming capabilities to its Scene7 rich media platform last month, allowing users to upload, transcode, edit, manage and stream video content more easily.ADNFCR-2036-ID-19029928-ADNFCR
