The website for the London-based National Portrait Gallery has been redesigned and relaunched.
Focused on displaying the gallery's online collection of 120,000 portraits more prominently, the new site offers enhanced zoom options and bigger visuals than seen previously.
Users can search for portraits by name, date and occupation, as well as by the subject of the painting.
An archive of private papers has also been added to the website, while the site's e-commerce capabilities have been improved to provide a smoother user experience.
"The website is a wonderful and critical part of the National Portrait Gallery's future. This is an excellent step forward," remarked Sandy Nairne, director of the National Portrait Gallery.
Established in 1856, the National Portrait Gallery holds the biggest collection of portraits in the world, which are displayed in London and at other locations across the UK.
Its oldest portrait is a painting of King Henry VII by an unknown artist from 1505.
