A new report from Opera has revealed that Facebook is the most popular social network among those accessing the internet via a mobile phone.
Other popular mobile social networks among British mobile owners include Mocospace.com, Bebo, Peperonity and MySpace, according to the statistics.
However, while most of the top social networks experienced significant mobile growth last year, MySpace saw a drop of 15 per cent, Opera noted.
Globally, VKontakte and Facebook were found to be the most used social networks by those accessing the mobile web through the Opera Mini browser.
Jon von Tetzchner, chief executive of Opera, said: "More people want access to the web on a global scale.
"With extra capacity in both developed and developing nations, we expect to see more people come online using a mobile phone than any other device."
VKontakte is a Russian site that has up to 600 million page views every day.
