A new survey has revealed some of the features mobile phone users would most like to see in social networking sites and apps for their handsets.
Carried out by YouGov for Colibria, almost four in ten of the 2,000 consumers surveyed said they would enjoy mobile social networking more if they could get updates pushed straight to their phones.
About 31 per cent said they would most like to receive social networking messages via their mobiles, with 14 per cent demanding single log-in access for multiple networks.
The survey also found that less than a third of those engaging in mobile social networking do so through a dedicated app - the majority opt for browser-based access.
"A truly interactive experience is required from operators for the mass adoption of social networking on mobile to become a reality and mirror the success of the fixed world," commented Lars Kristian Roland, chief technology officer for Colibria.
The research follows a recent Mformation study suggesting that complex handsets are putting off a number of Britons from making the most of mobile applications and services.
