The founder of popular fashion retail site Net-a-Porter is to launch a new online store selling discount designer clothing and accessories.
Natalie Massenet has almost finished work on theoutnet.com, which will officially go live in April and is currently inviting prospective customers to sign up for more information on the website.
The aim of the site is to offer a similar shopping experience to that offered by physical discount outlet stores, the Sunday Times reports, providing discounts of up to 80 per cent on some items.
Net-a-Porter was first launched in June 2000 and combines magazine-style editorial content with the ability to purchase a range of designer items. It receives about 1.8 million hits every month.
Ms Massenet said she was "very excited" about the new project, with Sunday Times fashion editor Claudia Croft adding: "It is going to be a silver lining of the recession. Women have got used to discounts."
