Blogs still important to bespoke web design

12th March 2010

Despite increasing attention being given to social networking tools, the importance of blogging to a web design should not be forgotten, according to an expert.

According to Bill Hartzer, writing for WebProNews, it can help to keep a website fresh while also improving any search engine optimisation efforts.

He says: "If you update your website's content, people will notice. Your competitors may be watching what you do, and when you update something it might get their attention and they'll come look. And the search engines will notice, as well."

Furthermore, social networking tools, very much in vogue at the moment, can then be used to share blog posts, providing free marketing opportunities through services such as Twitter, Digg and Facebook.

Once incorporated into the web design it is important to make sure that it is regularly updated. Hartzer recommends that either existing staff are allocated some blogging time or the work is contracted out.

Econsultancy editor-in-chief Chris Lake has previously recommended that anyone using a blog ensure that it has unique content, complete with tags and relevant keywords and phrases.ADNFCR-2036-ID-19667271-ADNFCR
