Website owners may need to recheck their web designs to ensure compatibility with all browsers after claims that rivals to Internet Explorer have gained users.
Microsoft recently agreed to offer Windows users in Europe the option of downloading an alternative to Internet Explorer and as a result, million of people have been given the choice.
The move had come as a part of a settlement between the company and the European Commission.
As a result, Mozilla claims it has seen 50,000 people download its Firefox browser while Opera says the download rates for its products have more than tripled in some countries around the continent.
The choice of browser can have a big impact on the way a website is viewed, so it is important to make sure that any web design is thoroughly checked for compatibility.
Writing for Practical Ecommerce recently, Armando Roggio said that merchants should set up their websites with standard-compliant codes so that it would appear the same with different browsers as well as through mobile devices.
