A technology expert has predicted a growth in the number of consumers looking to the Android platform for its applications.
After the recent revelation that developer Edward Kim He has been making $13,000 (£8,607) in a month from his paid-for applications, there has been much discussion about the potential market for businesses.
Dan Grabham, deputy editor of TechRadar, believes the Android platform is quickly catching up with the Apple's products, which have had a march on the competition.
He said: "Given the increasing popularity of Android handsets, I think we'll see a whole lot more traction with Android apps.
"iPhone users already make a choice to plump for the handset because of the apps. Other handset owners will soon be doing the same thing."
Grabham added that the potential of applications on the Android platform would also be boosted by the addition of more handsets running it.
New handsets that are set to hit the British market soon include the HTC Desire, the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini and Google's Nexus One.
