The importance of incorporating social media into bespoke web design has been shown by news of the growth of Twitter and Facebook.
According to GigaTweet, which counts the number of Twitter messages, the ten billionth Tweet will be posted sometime soon.
As Mashable notes, half of these have come in the last four months, showing just how quickly the popularity of the service has expanded.
Facebook has also recently enjoyed a period of success and Inside Facebook, a resource for developers and marketers, has predicted that it could make revenues of over £700 million this year.
This could be enhanced further if the universal credits system, which is currently being tested, is rolled out for all purchases on the site.
Of course, both Twitter and Facebook are important in web design in a number of ways. Widgets or applications can be used to display feeds from the social networking sites, while it is also useful to make it easy for visitors to share links through them.
