Incorporating a price comparison application could be a way of improving ecommerce websites.
Writing for Econsultancy, Graham Charlton notes some of the benefits, including the fact that it helps reassure the customer that they are getting the best deal.
However, he does raise a concern that, unlike in a physical store where competitor prices may be shown, online it is very easy to go to another retailer.
He also raises the point that if the application does not show a cheaper price elsewhere, but the consumer finds one themselves, then the credibility of the website may be damaged.
One company that provides a price comparison application is Winbuyer and it claims that revenues on pages with the application have been shown to be 4.9 per cent higher than those without it.
Another feature that may help online retailers when it comes to web development is to include a security badge or seal.
Like the price comparison tools, it has been noted that it can help add credibility to a website.
