We have just made PureRSS (surprisingly enough an RSS reader) available for alpha testing on the android marketplace - following the "Release early, release often" mantra. We welcome any and all feedback, and aim to make point release upgrades
PureRSS is an application and background service that trawls RSS and Atom feeds that you subscribe to every few minutes, alerting you as and when new posts are available.
As this is an alpha release there are further features that we will be adding over time as well as the odd bug and occasional issue that is present in the current release. One of the most prominent is that the background service currently checks for new posts every 5 minutes, an interval that is not yet configurable, and is not currently triggered when a new feed is added. This requires you to wait for the next scheduled check before posts will start appearing in the feed.
On the plus side I have been using the program for a few days now on my phone without any show stopping issues and we expect to be able to make a more polished release in the next couple of weeks.
Update (8th December 2008): The guys over at Android Apps have given PureRSS a review - check it out.
